About The Authors

Since meeting in early 1999 Catherine and Mark have progressively been exploring the world via land and water, maximising weekends and holidays to get off the beaten track. Over the years they have progressed from hike tent to camper trailer to caravan and motorhome, and Tassie the Burmese cat joins them on the adventure.

We had a new visitor last night, Mrs Badger. Looking at her, I would say she has cubs waiting for her back in the sett <3 She’s snuffling the dropped seeds from the bird feeders above…

We had hogs and squirrels in our hedgehog feeding station…not sure why the hogs were not picked up inside, but some food was eaten. Early days :-)

Learnings from Hedgehog feeding station night #1:

Learnings from Hedgehog feeding station night #1:

1. My feeding implements are too big for the space, so need to downsize
2. The Wildlife Camera is too big for the space, so need to relocate blue tit nest camera
3. One hedgehog was happy to come in and eat - entered by one door and left by the other - therefore proving the dimensions are right. And one field mouse came in for an explore but was more interested in the birdseed than hog food.
4. The neighbour’s cat did not come in and eat half the biscuits, and Mrs Fox didn’t either. Success!

Have ordered a bracket to mount the camera on, and I already have smaller bowls in mind…let’s see how night #2 goes!

Well, last night it seemed we had #Hedgehog wars. Hog #1 was happily munching away, when BigHog #2 arrived, unhappy. A fight ensues, and Hog #1 gives up early and rolls into a ball. BigHog #2 has a little snack before rolling Hog #1 away from the scene….too funny!

Miss Blue is doing so well with her clutch, which

Miss Blue is doing so well with her clutch, which is now up to 7 eggs. She spends most of the day keeping them warm, with quick 10 minute breaks for food and water. Mr Blue is also regularly popping in with juicy green caterpillars. The average clutch is 8-10 eggs, but they can lay up to 16! It will be interesting to see how far she goes…! #greenfeatherscamera #birdboxcamera #bluetit

So squirrels are well known for destroying bird feeders, and ours are no different. I have lost count of the times I have found peanuts all over the floor and a feeder broken. So I bought this one. It closes access to the peanuts for anything heavier than a bird…and today I got to see it in action - success, peanut feeding thwarted! #SquirrelBuster #birdfeeder
